IMPORTANT CHANGES TO B/TEC DATES AND COURSES
We have been informed that the closing date for applications for B/TEC Music or Public Services is the 1st September 2010. Additionally there is now a financial constraint against the courses; if you do not complete the qualification once you have enrolled, you could be liable for the cost of the course; this should not affect anyone who is serious about getting the additional qualifications, but you need to be made aware.
If you have shown an interest in joining and playing in the Band, are over the age of 16, and would like the chance to gain a B/TEC qualification in music, please inform the staff so that the B/TEC Officer can see if you are eligible, and can register you before September 2010.
Some cadets may not be eligible due to the fact that their school is currently running this award as part of the syllabus, but there are some schools which aren't. You do not have to be studying music as a subject at school to register for this qualification; you just have to be able to prove you meet all of the criteria, details of which can be provided by the B/TEC Officer on demand.
Those cadets who are eligible for the B/TEC in public services will be put forward to participate in the qualification over the Summer.
Flt Lt Llewellyn is covering the B/TEC at the moment, so applications will be submitted by the B/TEC Officer to her instead of Flt Lt Johnson.
