 | Summer Ball Payment |
We are still waiting for a number of Cadets to pay the Full amount for the Summer Ball. For those of you who have still to pay and haven't provided us with a menu choice, a choice has been made for you. This is Leek and Potato Soup, Turkey and Cheesecake for Dessert. Failure to pay up or to turn up will still invoke the £22 cost of the meal, so it is in your interest to get in touch as soon as possible and pay what is owed.
Many Thanks
Admin Team

 | NO 1 Uniform Update |
The current status of the Uniform is the Company we were ordering from has not recieved the stock from the Airforce so are currently unable to meet our order within the required timescale, which we were notified of via telephone on Saturday. A back up plan is in operation where we re hoping that we can get some NO 1 Jackets loaned to us from RAF Brize Norton, however at this moment i don't know how successful we will be. Because of this any monies paid for uniform will be refunded and the excepted dress (if we are unable to get the jackets) will be your issued uniform Trousers, White Shirt and Bow Tie only for Non NCO's.
Appologies for this but it was out of our hands, however we will keep you updated regarding the back up plan.

 | Squadron Summer Ball |
The Summer Ball date is nearly upon us, but there are a number of people who have said that they wish to attend, but have yet to pay a deposit. Deposits are now due in; please pass them on to the Admin Team as soon as possible because without them, there is a serious risk that the ball will have to be cancelled due to the pressure that is being imposed on the Admin Team regarding the costs by the Civilian Committee. Please support the Squadron by attending the ball, and encourage your family and friends to join us for the evening. If you have any questions, please contact us by e-mail or phone; at the very least, speak to us on parade on Wednesday.
Admin Team.

The Squadron was asked to send representatives to receive a donation of £2000 which will be placed into a minibus fund so that he Squadron have their own transportation for events. | D of E training and expeditions |
For those of you looking to take part in your D of E expeditions, please make a note of the dates set up in the calendar. The expeditions will initally be for those doing Bronze, with Silver expeditions planned for early in the New Year. If you wish to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh award and don't know how to do so, all you need to do is ask the CO. What you will find out is that every cadet on the Squadron should be taking part in this activity (even if you didn't realise that you are), and that the Civilian Committee fund your participation. There are set to be changes in how we do things; we will now start looking at getting each cadet to pay for their D of E book initially, but this will be refunded on completion of the award. The reason for the change, is that if a cadet chooses to leave the Squadron or change operating authority, the Squadron should not be left footing the bill. If you have any questions regarding payment for D of E and you wish to discuss it with the CO in private, please let him know through the contact us page; the e-mail and contact number goes directly through to him and is confidential.

 | Ten Tors Training |
Cadets from 649 took part in the RAF Ten Tors Selection this weekend. Cadets pictured at Dinger Tor checkpoint on Day 2. The team from the squadron did an amazing job, they all worked extremely hard and gelled together well as a team, many also completed their Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedition section. On their 40+km route they visited Okehampton Camp, Oke Tor, Quintens Man, Sittaford Tor, Rough Tor, Conies Down, Lynch Tor, Willsworthy Camp, Great Links, Kitty Tor, Dinger Tor, Row Tor and finished back at Okehampton. The team were entirely self sufficient for the whole time they were out on the moor, and despite the ground underfoot being very hard to walk on they made good time and morale was high. Many of the other teams taking part in the event dropped out, 16 cadets fell-out on Day 1, and a further 18 cadets fell-out before leaving their overnight camp at Willsworthy! All of 649's cadets completed the whole event and the RAF Ten Tors Training Team were very impressed with their performance, especially being their first time on Dartmoor! Photos of the event are available in the Photo Gallery section of this website.

Thought for the day; your 3822 record book is your identification and has records of everything that you have achieved. You should have this document with you at all times when attending parades or activities. Check you have it before attending the Squadron, but don't leave it in your uniform when it goes into the washing machine! Admin team. | |
